Google to Disable Gtalk on February 16

In two weeks from now, you all have to make the switch from Google’s Gtalk messenger platform to its Hangout. Dont freek… Million number of users from all around the world are using Gtalk since a long time, which made them very comfortable with it. In 2005, Google took a great step and introduced its interesting and reliable own desktop messaging client under the name of Google Talk. But, now today, after 10 years, Google annouced the users, those who still uses the Gtalk to stop working on it on February 16.

Now, Google has decided to force users by shutting down Gtalk once and for all from Feb 16 and it is replaces by the new interesting Hangouts Chrome app. This decision of Google does not seem to be a surprise among most of the users, but disappoints those users who are still accustomed to Gtalk’s simple interface.

Hangout is wide famously known as Google Hangouts, which is an instant messaging and video chat platform developed by Google. It is considered as the future of the company and hence taking down Gtalk is the most logical thing Google could do now. If it happens, the IM service will be wholly replaced by the Hangouts app, which can be used only via its Chrome web browser. Google is offering an option to upgrade to Hangouts just for the chat window on the left panel while the other Gmail interface remains the same. All the contacts will be shown on the screen with the green dot for those who are on online and nothing will be shown in the contacts of those who are on offline.

Overall, from February 16, Gtalk also be remembered as the history like Orkut.
