The launch date for Sony’s forthcoming wireless earphones was officially confirmed today. On June 9, Sony will unveil the WF-1000XM4 true wireless stereo (TWS) earbuds.
Sony’s official YouTube channel has a livestream for a “Truly Silent. Tailored 4 you” event on June 9 with #YourSoundNothingElse. On June 9, at 1 a.m. Japan time, the event will commence (9:30 PM IST on June 8th).
The Sony WF-1000XM4 is the successor to the Sony WF-1000XM3, which was released in India in 2020 for Rs 19,999.
The Sony WF-1000XM4 is expected to include active noise cancelling, according to rumours (ANC). Wireless charging and speak-to-chat will be among the features.
Users may hold brief discussions using the Speak-to-Chat functionality without taking off their headphones. The headphones recognise the user’s voice and halt the music when they are merely spoken to. After they’ve done conversing, the music automatically starts playing again after 30 seconds.
Sony’s 360 Reality Audio, which works with Android or iPhone via compatible music streaming applications, will be supported by the earbuds. Instead of the QN1e CPU featured in the WH-1000XM3, the Sony WF-1000XM4 will be driven by a new Sony V1 integrated CPU.
The IPX4 grade for sweat and water resistance will be included with the WF-1000XM4. The battery is expected to last up to 8 hours with ANC turned on, up to 12 hours without it, and an extra 16 hours with the charging case turned on, for a total of 24 hours with ANC and 36 hours without it. It can be charged wirelessly or through USB-C on Qi-compatible chargers.
A Slovakian website also listed the pricing of the earphones. According to an ad on a Slovakian website, the Sony WF-1000XM4 is priced at 279.90 (about Rs 24,000).
